Join us at the NATI 2025 Annual Conference to hear from Professor Koene, a medical and court interpreter and educator.

Professor Piet Koene is a certified medical interpreter and a state and federally certified court interpreter. He holds M.A. degrees in Translation & Interpretation and History. Since 2000, he has taught Spanish, Translation, and Interpreting at Northwestern College, where he directs the online legal and medical interpreting certificate programs, while also working as a freelance interpreter and translator and teaching in York University’s Masters of Conference Interpreting program.

At this year’s conference, Professor Koene will present two sessions:

  • Pitfalls of English-Spanish: Advanced Grammar Review for Interpreters

  • The Economy of Words: Key to Successful Simultaneous (English-Spanish)

These sessions will offer advanced insights into English-Spanish interpreting, emphasizing grammar challenges, efficiency, and strategies for successful interpretation.
