Job Responsibilities:

The translator is responsible for the translation of written materials from source to target language, working in collaboration with the translations coordinator to provide accurate and complete rendering of written materials throughout the organization. This process includes receiving written materials with English (or other source language) content and translating it into a target language. On occasion, the need for revision, editing, proofreading and other related activities including invoicing will be part of the incumbents' responsibility as well as serving as back up to the translations coordinator. Translation of vital documents is mandated by the Office for Civil Rights and compliance is verified for accreditation purposes by The Joint Commission.

Job Requirements:

o Bachelors degree
o ATA (American Translators Association) Certification Preferred
o 1-2 years experience
o Professional Portfolio
o High level of proficiency (written and spoken) in English and target language
o Medical terminology and other highly technical vocabulary in English and target language
o Application use and techniques with the following software required: Outlook, Microsoft Word, PageMaker, Adobe Pro, Microsoft Publisher, Access, Excel, and additional software as assigned
o Able to solve problems creatively, and develop solutions to problems which are cost-effective and practical

Certification Information

Certification: Certification for translators and interpreters means that a person has met certain minimum standards as set by the certifying organization. It is awarded to an individual by the certifying organization. Usually the certification process will have specific prerequisites for candidates and once those are meet, the person will take an exam. If the candidate passes the exam, certification is awarded. Continuing education units may be required for maintaining the certification and some certifying organizations require continued membership in the organization for the certification to remain valid.Certificate: Awarded to an individual for attending an event and/or successfully completing a course of study that may be for any number of hours or days of study.
