The NATI Board of Directors is made up of active and dedicated NATI members who may be practicing interpreters and translators, language bureaus, students, public agency staff and private organizations who utilize language service providers.
Erica Birky Rios, President

Erica is a resident of Lincoln and a freelance Interpreter and a trainer of Interpreting in cases of Domestic Violence and Law Enforcement, and Strategies for Beginning Translation. She has been a board member since 2005. She is the manager of the Andean Folk Music Ensemble Kusi Taki.
Janet Bonet, Vice President

English & Spanish. Janet is a native of Omaha and lives in South Omaha. She is a translator and interpreter at Protrans, the business she owns with her husband Jaime Bonet, and is a founding member of NATI. Janet is a State Certified Court Interpreter in Nebraska and Iowa. She does training and presentation across the country on translation and interpretation. She currently serves on the Global Advisory Council for medical interpreting.
Jennifer McGill, Secretary

Spanish, French and English. Jennifer McGill has a BA in Modern Languages: Spanish and French from Beloit College. She currently works as a bilingual Spanish-English intake paralegal at Legal Aid of Nebraska.
Jaime Bonet, Treasurer

Spanish & English. Jaime is a native of Mexico and is currently residing in Omaha. For the past 15 years, he has been a partner in Protrans, the company he and his wife own. Jaime is a Certified Court Interpreter in Nebraska and Iowa and is certified by Lionsbridge for US Immigration Court interpreting. He is currently the contract Interpreter Coordinator for the Nebraska State Court's District 2 which covers Sarpy, Cass and Otoe counties.

Spanish & English. Fermin is a native of Spain currently residing in Omaha. He is the director of the Spanish Program at College of Saint Mary in Omaha. Presently, he is working on establishing a for-credit medical interpreter program there.
Marsha Conroy, Board Member

English & French. Marsha currently resides in Omaha. A freelance interpreter and translator, she writes weekly lesson plans for SCOLA and is a Nebraska State Qualified Court Interpreter. Member ATA and NAJIT.
Joan Wallace, Board Member

English, French and Spanish. Joan resides in Omaha. She has been an independent translator since 1993; her expertise is in medical and legal translation. Joan is a member of MICATA and is an ATA-certified translator from French>English
Joana Lorena Luna Spindola, Board member

Spanish & English. Originally from Valencia, Venezuela, Lorena is a medical interpreter and translator in Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler and in the Columbus Community Hospital. Lorena has been a medical interpreter for 6 years, serving the Schuyler-Columbus-Norfolk-Madison area.
Erick Ernesto Saavedra Avila, Board Member

Born in Celaya, Guanajuato Mexico, Eric has been an Interpreter for the Lincoln community for 5 years in the medical, mental health, legal and law enforcement field. A facilitator for Bryan LGH Medical Center for the Domestic Abuse Program and with LCAD in the Substance Abuse Program, he also works for El Centro de las Americas as the facilitator developing a Latino Youth Prevention program.

Native of Mexico, residing in Kearney; graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BS in Social Work/Translation and Interpretation. Frelance interpreter/translator Spanish -English since 1990. She currently works as a bilingual mediator for the Central Mediation Center
